(If mobile broadband is what you need, check out How To Sign Up For Mobile Broadband in Sweden: Step-By-Step.)
Step 1: Pick Your Broadband Plan
To start, find the fixed broadband plan that best matches your needs—whether you’re after fast fiber or reliable ADSL. Our reviews of popular broadband providers in Sweden can help you compare your options. Once you’ve found an interesting option, click on “See your price” to proceed.
Step 2: Enter Your Address
Once you’re set on a plan type, you usually enter your home address to see what broadband options and speeds are available for your location. After getting your results, go through the plans and pick the one that works best for you. Make sure to check for contract length options, any included router offers, or details about installation.
Step 3: Fill In Your Personal Details
Next, you’ll need to provide some basic info—your name, Swedish Personal Number, home address again, and email. If you don’t yet have a Swedish Personal Number, don’t worry, we’ve got a guide about how to get a Swedish Personal Number.
Some providers may also ask you to verify your identity using BankID (Sweden’s digital ID system). If you need more info, check out our guide on getting set up with BankID.
Step 4: Review and Sign
Almost there! It’s time to sign the agreement, typically using BankID, though some providers may offer other ways to confirm. Before you sign anything, take a moment to review the terms, including payment methods—invoice is often the standard.
Step 5: Get Connected!
Once your order is processed, you’ll receive a confirmation with your expected start date. Some providers include a router in their package, either for free or for a cost, which they’ll either deliver to your home or a nearby pickup point. Once it arrives, just connect it, and you’re ready to go online!
