It’s finally time to kick off another thrilling season of the Premier League 2024/25, and this season will for sure be one for the books. Can the Gunners keep their cool and make it all the way to claim the top spot this year? (yes, I've been a proud and frustrated Gunner since the Ljungberg Mohawk era). Or will it be another Peptastic season for City and Haaland? Time will tell, but one thing is certain and that is that it will be another exciting season of the best football league in the world!

If you’re a football fanatic and new to living in Sweden, we’ll guide you through how you can peacefully (or not so peacefully) watch your favourite players and favourite team(s) take the field in the Premier League 2024/25 season. We’ll also throw in a few fun facts about the history of the Premier League in Sweden and why Swedes absolutely love the Premier League, so that you can lead the convo with confidence while watching the fixtures together with your Swedish friends this season.

How To Watch the Premier League 2024/25 Season in Sweden

In Sweden, you can watch the Premier League 2024/25 season at Viaplay and Prime Video. You need to have Viaplay Total, where you’ll be able to enjoy a majority of the games, but if you want to watch all games you also need to sign up for Prime Video. Prime Video will air the 1.00 PM (13.00) Saturday fixtures.

In order to be able to stream your favourite matches on Viaplay Total and/or Prime Video, you also need to set yourself up for success with a reliable high-speed internet connection. Some popular broadband options for being able to stream the Premier League in Sweden are Allente (with various Viaplay bundles available) and Chili Mobile Broadband (with 3 free months of Viaplay Basic, not incl. Sports).

How Many Swedish Players Are in The Premier League 2024/25?

With Swedish Premier League legends like Freddie Ljungberg, Glenn Hysén, Olof Mellberg, Anders Limpar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson, the Swedes taking the field on the British Islands this year have a lot to live up to. For the 2024/25 Premier League Campaign, there are a bunch of Swedes in the league ready to make their mark.

  • Anthony Elanga, Nottingham Forest
  • Victor Nilsson-Lindelöf, Manchester United
  • Yasin Ayari, Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Emil Krafth, Newcastle United
  • Alexander Isak, Newcastle United
  • Robin Olsen, Aston Villa
  • Lucas Bergvall, Tottenham Hotspur
  • Dejan Kulusevski, Tottenham Hotspur

Isak will most likely be a contender for the Golden Boot again this season, Kulusevski can play an even more vital role in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven, and it will be very interesting to follow Lucas Bergvall making his debut season on the British Islands this year.

Why Do Swedes Love The Premier League?

Back in the 60’s, Swedes got introduced to the beautiful game of English league football through the weekly TV-show “Tipsextra”. Each Saturday, Tipsextra aired one fixture from the English league and the Swedish football fanatics quickly got a new Saturday tradition established.

The Saturday game, in combination with gambling on the result of 13 fixtures with “Stryktipset” (still a very popular thing in Sweden today), and goal flashes live from all fixtures got the Swedes completely hooked, and this love of English football has only grown stronger during the years. Most Swedes today consider the Premier League the best league in the world (myself included), and almost all Swedes have their favourite side in the league.
