How do I deal with recycling in Sweden?

We are quite serious about recycling in Sweden—it's practically a national sport! You'll find separate bins for paper, plastics, metals, glass, and food waste in most residential buildings, and if you live in a villa you'll get the proper bins to your home from the municipality to your home.

Bigger items like electronics or furniture need to be taken to local recycling centers, and many supermarkets and grocery stores also have machines where you can return cans and bottles for a deposit refund ("pant"). Just follow the general signs on bins and recycling stations, and when in doubt, ask a neighbour or your housing society for guidance.
