Ready to sign up for a mobile plan in Sweden? Sweet! To make things super easy for you, we've broken down the typical steps you'll go through when getting a mobile plan in Sweden.

Step 1: Choose Your Mobile Plan

First things first—find the best mobile plan in Sweden that fits you and your needs. A good way to start is by checking out our reviews of popular mobile operators and plans in Sweden. Once you've picked your favorite, proceed to see your price and choose a plan.

Step 2: Pick (or Transfer) Your Swedish Mobile Number

Now it’s time to decide if you want a brand-new Swedish mobile number or if you’re bringing over your current one.

  • New to Sweden? Go for the option of getting a shiny new number, and pick a number from the list in the sign up form.
  • Already have a Swedish phone number? No problem, you can transfer it to your new provider. They’ll handle the switch for you, but it’s a good idea to give your old provider a heads-up. The transfer of your number usually takes about 4-6 days, and it's important that the number is registered in your name.

Step 3: Provide Your Personal Info

Next, you'll need to share some details—usually your name, your Swedish Personal Number, home address, and email. If you don’t have a Swedish Personal Number yet, don’t worry, we’ve got a complete guide that walks you through how to get one.

Some providers might also ask you to verify yourself using BankID (Sweden’s digital identification system). If you’re not familiar with it, we’ve got you covered with another guide on how to get BankID.

Step 4: Sign the Agreement

Now you’re almost there! Most of the time, you’ll sign your mobile agreement using BankID again, but a few providers might offer other signature options. And yes, make sure to read the agreement carefully.

Step 5: Activate Your SIM Card

Once your order is processed, you’ll soon get your SIM card. Some providers offer eSIMs that you can activate instantly, but most will mail you a physical SIM card. It usually takes a few days for it to arrive. Once you have it, just pop it into your phone, and you’re ready to start calling and texting with your shiny new +46 number! 📱🇸🇪
